Premier League footballer Harry Kane has revealed that he would be keen on playing in the NFL one day.
The 25-year-old is currently the England national team captain and leads the line regularly for Tottenham Hotspur, but he has his sights set on playing American football in years to come.
Kane spoke to ESPN about his goals for the future and revealed that his desire to someday perform in the NFL is genuine, following his public support for the New England Patriots.
[The desire to play in the NFL] is real. Something that in 10 or 12 years I definitely want to try. It goes back to that drive to be the best. Even if I download a game on my phone, can I be the best in the world?
If you play in the Premier League and the World Cup and you then play in the NFL, would you then be considered one of the greatest sportsmen ever?
The striker also alluded to his admiration of quarterback Tom Brady and said:
Not many people thought he’d become that good, or even play in the NFL, and he went on to become the best ever. At the time, it gave me a real boost to say, look, anything is possible. If you have that self-belief and that drive and that hunger, you can do it.
We’d kind of become friends but had never met. It was a bit strange. I hadn’t been a fan of any team since I was young and supporting Tottenham.
Brady, 41, would appear to be in the twilight of his career in the NFL, and Kane has used his ability to maintain a high level at the very top as inspiration as he ponders a future switch to American football.
Kane has been excellent for Tottenham in the Premier League this season, but it seems football may not be his only calling in sport.
